About VITA

Since 1969, VITA has been empowering volunteers to serve their communities. All VITA volunteers are required to attend training and pass an IRS certification exam. In 2025 alone, 10,000 VITA tax sites across the USA completed nearly 3 million tax returns.

About the Carlmont VITA Site

The Carlmont VITA site has completed over 200 tax returns since 2022, and over 70 tax returns in 2025 alone. Operated in partnership between the Carlmont High School DECA program and CPA Aniko Smith, IRS-certified students complete tax returns under the guidance of Aniko and her team of financial professionals. All tax returns are personally checked by a CPA or retired CPA before submission to the IRS.
